The Montpelier cannot be used solely to heat the house. It merely supplements the home. With the geo running and thermostat set to 68 and the Montpelier running hot we stay at 68. If chit the geo off the temps start dropping inside the house by using the Montpelier only. We have 3 year old dry seasoned wood. Tested with a moisture meter.

Normally the house would be a few degrees warmer, but the wind was gusting close to 20 mph with chills in the teens. 70 is cold for us, but the gas furnace is set for 68 so we didn't use any gas. Its doing what its supposed to. By the time I left at 5:40 am the house was 72 and climbing. Temps are dipping lower tonight.

I just bought this stove, without a cat,this year as I moved into a new house, and replaced the old stove onto the existing chimney system. It is a wall exit setup with 2 90s and is probably a hair too short to meet normal standards. However, when the stove is running well, draft is not an issue.

My family and I just moved into a new house 4 months ago located next to a wood burner. He has a wood stove that has been used all winter as well as into the spring as their primary source of heat. This would be no issue of course, but the problem is that the smoke is billowing laterally / downward from the chimney and into our home.
