Creosote running down outside of pipe, inside of house
The past few days, creosote is running down the outside of the pipe that is inside the house, between the ceiling and the stove. The exterior pipe looks fine. Also, this fall we had resealed around the pipe where it meets the roof. I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions to help us figure out what is going on. Englander 13 - This IS our furnace.

As far as a fire in the house, as long as the stove is maintained right and installed properly, there is more chance that a bolt of lightning will hit your chimney and burn the house down than the stove doing it. Being ANAL and worrying about stoves/fire is a good thing, but not to the point of going nuts over it.

In the coldest of days if my stove has been off and the flue is ice cold, I’ll give it some help my putting my propane torch up there for about 5-10 seconds. Hi, I just had my pellet stove installed this year. I went outside (first nice day in winter) and noticed a lot of black soot on the house. I called my dealer and he said this is normal. I'm wondering if we should have a cap on the end of the pipe to prevent this? Is this normal??? Thanks!
